2024 Lunar New Year Celebrations

Lunar New year is a holiday in which people honour household and heavenly deities, as well as their ancestors. More modern generations also see the holiday as a time for family to celebrate and come together.

It is a traditional holiday celebrated by many East Asian countries, including China, Korea and Vietnam, where families come together and celebrate new beginnings.

Chang Lai Yuan Chinese Gardens in Nurragingy Reserve will be adorned with colour as we prepare to ring in the Year of the Dragon.

Decorated in the spirit of Lunar, the celebrations will feature a range of cultural activities and entertainment between 5 pm – 9 pm and conclude with a spectacular fireworks display including Chinese fire crackers.

The event program will feature:

  • Lion dance and drumming
  • Dragon dance
  • live cultural performances across two performance stages
  • free kids craft workshops
  • free face painting
  • cultural workshops and demonstrations
  • food and market stalls
  • fireworks display
  • roving performers
